Who We Are


Charles Kingsley (King) Perkins became a Certified Financial Planner™ certificant in 1991.  He is a member of the FPA (Financial Planning Association), a member of NAPFA (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors), and earned the designation of NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor. After receiving specialized training in the specific financial and tax issues in divorce, he earned the designation of Financial Divorce Specialist and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™ (CDFA™).  He was also the President of The Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois (CLII). Previously, he served for one year as President-Elect and two years as Treasurer of CLII. Between 2003 and 2005 he was on the Midwest Regional Board of NAPFA and he served on the nominating committee of NAPFA in 2008.

 

 

Before starting his fee-only financial planning practice in 2000, King spent over 30 years in banking with First Chicago. His assignments included international banking where he was based in London, corporate banking and private banking.  Since 1987, he has worked exclusively in the area of personal finance.  He holds an MBA in finance from Loyola of Chicago, and a BA in economics from DePauw University.  He also spent three years as a U.S. Naval Officer.

 

 
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner™ and federally registered CFP (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
                   
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 


 
 
Chené Benger will be graduating from DePaul University in June 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a minor in Spanish and has been on the Dean's List all quarters. During her time at DePaul, Chené developed an interest in financial planning and wealth management and took an internship at Kingsley Perkins & Company to learn more about the profession. Chené comes from an international family and grew up in the United States, South Africa, France, England, Poland, and Mexico and is fluent in Spanish and conversational in French. She is an avid runner and is currently preparing for the upcoming Chicago marathon for which she is raising money for the charity Team World Vision which provides clean water for children in Africa.


 
 
Susan has worked in financial services since 1995. She began her career at a boutique Chicago investment management firm and later worked for a suburban broker-dealer where in addition to portfolio administration duties she acted as the firm’s designated trader for equity and fixed income purchases and sales. She subsequently joined the investment advisory group at Deloitte and Touche. For the past twelve years she was a manager for a wealth management firm where her responsibilities included client service, portfolio administration, operations and trading.

 

Susan earned a B.A. in English literature and writing from Rosary College (now Dominican University). She has pursued professional courses in tax, retirement and estate planning as well as investments. She is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFATM) and a member of FPA (Financial Planning Association). Prior to entering the financial services field Susan was an advertising executive for Kroch’s & Brentano’s bookstores.
